Robles becomes 16th Player Signed To Roster.
MIAMI, Fla. (December 2, 2019) —
Inter Miami CF announced today it has signed veteran Free Agent goalkeeper Luis Robles, who spent the past eight seasons in New Jersey with the Red Bulls.
“Luis has had a storied MLS career and we are excited that it will continue in Miami,” said Inter Miami’s Sporting Director Paul McDonough. “We look forward to his contributions ahead of our inaugural MLS season.”
Robles’ career has been largely successful, helping the Red Bulls to capture the Supporters’ Shield in 2013, 2015 and 2018. He was named MLS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2015. Now, he can pursue a trophy he is still hunting for: the MLS Cup.
Red Bulls Sporting Director Denis Hamlett said “Luis’ play and work ethic speak for themselves when you look at the individual and team success during his time. These decisions are never easy and we wish Luis and his family the best in the next stage of his career.”
The 35-year-old started 238 MLS regular season games for the Red Bulls, keeping 72 clean sheets in that time, the eighth most in league history. In the 2018 season, Robles kept a club-record and career-high 14 clean sheets.
In 2019, Robles had a 13-14-6 record and nine clean sheets. For his career, Robles has a 114-71-53 mark with 72 clean sheets and a 1.29 goals-against average. He ranks sixth in league history with 114 goalkeeper wins. He owns MLS’ Ironman streak with 183 consecutive complete games from 2012 to 2018.
On the international stage, Robles has earned three caps with the U.S. Men’s National Team. He made his debut for the senior team at the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup, starting in a game against Haiti. He also appeared in friendlies against Iceland and Jamaica.
Robles is the 16th player signed to the Club’s inaugural roster.
