MIAMI (July 29, 2020) — The Miami FC returns to the pitch tonight in an away game in Kennesaw, GA against Atlanta United 2.
Miami’s local professional fútbol club returns to action tonight. It will be the aqua, blue and orange’s first game since the beginning of the USL Championship’s 2020 season on Mar. 7, when Miami lost away to Saint Louis FC 4-1. Miami’s goalscorer that night was Romario Williams, who is a former Atlanta United and ATL UTD 2 striker from 2017 to 2019.
Miami’s opponents tonight, Atlanta United 2, most recently fell 3-0 last weekend at the Charleston Battery. Atlanta is still searching for its first win of the 2020 USL Championship season. The squad has a new head coach, Tony Annan, who is Atlanta United’s Academy Director. He assumed the role on July 27 after Stephen Glass was promoted to Atlanta United First Team interim head coach.
This is the first of four meetings this season between Atlanta United 2 and the Miami FC. Both teams are in Group H of the USL Championship. The league scrapped the two conference format as part of the revised schedule for 2020 following the stoppage in play due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Tonight’s match will be closed to spectators, but is available for viewing for those with a subscription to ESPN+. Kickoff is slated for 19:30 (7:30 p.m. ET).
