MIAMI (28 May 2021)

Granada CF announced in a club statement that coach Diego Martínez has decided to leave the club. The Nazarí side completed their best season in club history during the 2020-21 campaign, reaching the quarter-finals of the Europa League before falling to a much deeper Manchester United.

Club officials wanted Diego to stay on at the helm and tried to entic him to signing a new contract.

Martínez has been the head coach of the club for three seasons, durng which time Granada ascended from the Segunda to consecutive top-half finishes in La Liga, the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey and, as mentioned, the quarter-finals of the Europa League.
