Preseason Training Visits The Treasure Coast

Inter Miami continued its preseason training with sessions at the Club Med Sandpiper Resort.

Blazing Trails

The secluded location is great for preseason training, away from the crowds in a place that more better resembles the ‘real Florida’ than Miami does.

Club Med Sandpiper Resort is not a stranger to football clubs: Mexican club Pachuca and Uruguayan club Penarol held preseason training here last summer, and the NWSL’s Washington Spirit is coming in March.

Possession and Pressure

The squad has been engaged in two-a-day training sessions. The secluded location allowed the players time to bond as a team. The picturesque grounds include a sandy beach, marina, golf course, tennis courts, beach volleyball courts, two soccer fields, a spa and even circus-style trapeze training facilities.

It is the perfect place, Inter Miami players said, for a soccer team — especially an expansion team — to hold preseason training.

What The Players are Saying

Mickey Ambrose, defender

“We’ve had a lot of two-a-days, so it’s been pretty tiring, but the team’s getting ready for the season, getting our fitness in, coming together, getting chemistry going, so it’s really good.”

Dylan Nealis, defender

“I think this team is doing a really good job of not creating groups. Everyone has been liking each other so far. On the field it’s different, you could have your battles, but off the field we’re all brothers.”

“As you spend more and more time with your teammates off the field, it just helps with bonding and translates to the chemistry on the field,”
